Danshuihe Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by the Regional Survey Party under the Tibetan Geological Bureau in 1987. The naming section is located in the area of Danshui River northeast of Duoma District, Ritu County, Tibet (E 80o26’, N 33o40’), with its reference section being situated on the western bank of the Bairebu Co to the northwest of the Cabu District, Gaize County, Tibet (E 83°10′, N 34°55′). Schematic strat column in previous "red Chinese Lexicon" suggests it is the upper formation in the Yanshiping Gr and coeval with the Bailongbinghe Fm.

Lithology and Thickness
Composed of grey medium-, and thin-bedded microcrystal limestone and light-purple brecciated limestone. It is 1293.66 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in a conformable contact and partly coeval with the Bailongbinghe Fm
Upper contact
No information given. Regionally, it is unconformably underlying Cenozoic red beds and volcanic rocks.
Regional extent
The formation is found to be exposed only in the Duoma District, Ritu County and on the western bank of Bairebu Co, Gaize County, Tibet, with a consistent lithology and an exposed thickness of over 1250 m. Coeval with the Bailongbinghe Fm in this same location.

Fossils
In the Duoma area it yields bivalves Pleuromya cf. spitiensis, etc.; and gastropods as represented by Elegantella sp. cf., E. conoidalis, Monoplocus sp.; while in the area of the western bank of the Bairebu Co it yields coral fossils Schizosmilia rollieri, Dermoseris delogaboi, D. doblogana and Montlivaltia bifibra.
